Description

The successful candidate will maximize Meridian’s market share and sales opportunities by developing effective and successful relationships with suppliers to ensure that the highest level of sales, customer service, quality and profitability is achieved. This person will interact daily with Operations and Suppliers to ensure flawless execution of the order fulfillment process.

Responsibilities
  • Negotiate and purchase inventory from suppliers.
  • Development of win-win relationships with Suppliers.
  • Management of the entire order fulfillment process (solicit price and delivery from Suppliers and provide information to Business Development, provide Suppliers with Forecast).
  • Assist Business Development in monitoring Supplier forecasts vs. actuals and safety stocks.
  • Continuous improvement of internal purchasing/inventory procedures.
  • Identify better Suppliers by taking into consideration price, quality, lead time, service and support.
  • Prepare and transmit requests for quote and purchase orders to Suppliers.
  • Actively follow up and expedite orders as needed to meet customer requirements.
  • Handle complaint resolution regarding supplier non-conformances.
  • Participate in training as it relates to product lines, systems, corporate account strategies, territory strategies and Meridian strategy.
  • Monitors and analyzes process-oriented tasks and situations; focuses on improving current areas with significant independent judgment.
  • Collaborates with Suppliers to ensure established processes are followed, meet compliance requirements, and improve organizational performance.
  • Participates on cross-organizational teams to maintain and enhance current business processes, focusing on particular processes with suppliers.
  • Strategic sourcing that continuously improves and re-evaluates the purchasing activities with the supplier.
  • Keep track and communicate Supplier performance through metrics and reports.
  • Create collaborative relationships with Partners that have a strong positive influence on MLS performance.
    • Assessment of a company’s current spend (what is bought where?)
    • Assessment of the supply market (who offers what?)
    • Total cost analyses (how much does it cost to provide those goods or services?)
    • Identification of suitable Suppliers
    • Development of a sourcing strategy (where to buy what considering demand and supply situation, while minimizing risk and costs)
    • Negotiation with Suppliers (products, service levels, prices, geographical coverage, etc.)
  • Serve as contact responsible for handling supplier inquiries and problems (quality issues, etc.).
  • Assist with the gathering of all necessary documentation that is due to the customer related to their projects.
  • Makes full use of all company systems such as INFOR, MasterCONTROL, etc.
Qualifications
  • Strategic, consultative and negotiation skills.
  • Must have strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to quickly and accurately assess the importance of a phone call, email, or document and take appropriate action to involve the appropriate people.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality of extremely sensitive data, records, files, conversations, etc.
  • Self-motivated and able to grasp new concepts quickly.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, integrity, respect for confidentiality, sound judgment and decision making skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. (clear, concise, and honest).
  • Good analytical and quantitative skills, leveraged by computer skills – MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work well with other departments within the company
  • Purchasing experience.
  • Product knowledge across all segments and categories.
  • Understanding of Life Science markets and impacts on product pricing and negotiations.
  • Outstanding communication and vendor relation skill set.
  • Handle multiple projects on a regular basis, producing measurable results.
